Hot drinks are perfect for cooler weather. Here’s what top dietitians love to order at Starbucks.
Three things are responsible for my semi-functioning during this apocalyptic time: Harry Styles’s clothes, therapy and caffeine. Many of us have switched from cold brew to hot drinks since fall has somehow arrived. Starbucks’ menu is extensive, with 23 varieties of clover-brewed espresso alone. It’s sometimes helpful to get a professional’s help when you’re in need of a caffeine boost but don’t want a PSL. Tracy Lockwood Beckerman shares her favorite hot drinks at Starbucks in an episode from Well+Good’s YouTube series You Versus Food.
Beckerman loves the classic black cup of coffee. Beckerman says that a plain unsweetened black coffee will be the healthiest option for coffee. Enjoy all the benefits of coffee without adding any sugar or fat. She suggests adding milk to plain black coffee if the idea makes you want scream in your heart. She says that adding whole milk to your daily coffee is healthy, but you should be careful how much you add.
Beckerman loves cappuccinos if you want a more fancy coffee. She loves that it has a similar richness as a latte but uses less milk. She also says that it has less sugar than her beloved almond milk lattes, so if you are watching your sugar intake this could be a great alternative.
Remember: If you want a pumpkin cream or caramel macchiato, do not try to substitute something “healthier” because it is likely that your choice will leave you unsatisfied. If you want to try something new (or specifically are looking for low-sugar and lower-calorie coffee options), Beckerman’s selections are worth trying.
